Clinic Team are 'Running for Rowling'

May 2023: A team of staff from the Anne Rowling Clinic will take part in this year's Edinburgh Marathon Festival.

Nine members of staff from the Anne Rowling Clinic and the Euan MacDonald Centre, will join other fundraisers to take part in this year's Edinburgh Marathon Festival (EMF). The EMF will be held on the 27th & 28th May 2023. The all-encompassing route takes in some of Edinburgh's most iconic landmarks as well as offering picturesque views along the East Lothian coastline.

 

The Rowling Runners are Hanne (team captain), Amy, Bastien, Debbie, Ethan, Hatice, James, and Jess.

The Rowling Runners are entering two teams for the 'Hairy Haggis Team Relay.' Each team is made up of four runners, each runner will complete one leg of the relay, and together they will run the marathon distance of 26.2 miles. MND-SMART Trial Manager - Amy Stenson is challenging herself to run the Edinburgh Half Marathon - a total of 13.1 miles!

Through their fundraising efforts, the team hope to show their appreciation of all the community fundraisers who continue to support the vital research at the Anne Rowling Clinic.

Senior research nurse and 'team leader' Hanne Haagenrud explained why they are getting together to run in this year's EMF.

We feel so privileged to be part of the important work carried out in and around the Clinic. Work which wouldn't be possible without the contribution from research participants and patients giving up their time and sharing their stories with us. We wish to give something back by raising awareness and funds to help us to understand more about conditions like Multiple Sclerosis, Motor Neuron Disease, Parkinson's and early onset dementias.
