Starting her Kiltwalk challenge in the City of Discovery, Zoë walked 26 miles through North Fife, Dundee and Angus to raise money in aid of the Anne Rowling Clinic.
Method of fundraising
Dundee Kiltwalk – Mighty StrideWhy did you decide to fundraise?
I wanted to fundraise for the Anne Rowling Clinic as I was diagnosed with MS (multiple sclerosis) in 1999. Although I keep well, I am very grateful for the support and care that the clinic offers me on an annual basis. I managed to raise over £1600, which I hope will help support further research for people with MS.
How did you raise the money?
I chose to raise funds via the Kiltwalk as walking is something I can do fairly well. I walked with a group of fellow teachers who were raising funds for their own charities. We did a few training walks along the Fife coastal path, around Loch Leven, and managed 26 miles from Leven to Crail. The preparation helped and the camaraderie on the day helped us all get over the line together.
Fundraising wisdom:
I am delighted with the amount I managed to raise; this was all due to the generosity of my family and friends. I posted about my training and the charity on social media and made weekly posts to keep everyone informed. I used the Kiltwalk app and the links to my Just Giving page to keep people up to date and involved in my walk.
