Last week we were delighted to host participant representatives, principal investigators, research nurses and academics from across Scotland, who are all involved in the FutureMS research study.

FutureMS is a longitudinal study following the multiple sclerosis (MS) journeys of 440 people across Scotland who were diagnosed 10 years ago. The study aims to better understand what causes MS, why it affects people so differently, and to work towards personalised medicine.

We drew together some of our Lived Experience panel, neurologists, nurses, and academics researching brain and eye imaging, blood biomarkers, epidemiology and genetics for a truly multi-disciplinary day, from brain-storming new research ideas to discussing how to best support our participants across Scotland in attending their next research visit. We’d like to thank all those who travelled the length of the country to contribute.

The strength of this study lies in studying the same people over time and in the huge breadth and depth of data we are gathering from clinical examinations, questionnaires, blood tests, cognitive games, brain and eye imaging.
