Aug 2025: Next month, twenty of our colleagues will lace up their walking shoes and don their green t-shirts to take part in the Edinburgh Kiltwalk to raise vital funds for the Clinic.

The Kiltwalk is Scotland’s biggest mass participation walking event, bringing together thousands of people who walk in solidarity for the causes closest to their hearts. Since 2016, the Kiltwalk community has raised an incredible £49.6 million for over 3,750 Scottish charities. This year, our team is proud to be part of that story.

Why we’re walking

The Anne Rowling Clinic, a unique partnership between the University of Edinburgh and NHS Lothian, delivers world-leading clinical care and research to improve the lives of people affected by neurological conditions such as multiple sclerosis (MS), motor neuron disease (MND), Parkinson’s disease and early onset dementias.

Our Clinic combines specialist NHS services with cutting-edge University research, creating an environment where patients contribute to research, and discoveries move swiftly from laboratory to clinical trials. Here, people can take part in pioneering drug trials and research studies that have the potential to change the future for thousands living with progressive brain conditions.

Your support matters

By sponsoring our walkers, you will help the Clinic continue:

  • Delivering world-class clinical care in a supportive, welcoming environment.
  • Driving innovative research into treatments and therapies.
  • Giving people across Scotland the chance to participate in studies that could transform lives.
  • Training the next generation of neurology research leaders.

It is particularly inspiring that the Clinic’s own staff are once again taking on the Kiltwalk. They see first-hand the impact that fundraising can make on the research and trials we deliver. I wish them all the best for this fantastic challenge!
Rebecca Devon, Anne Rowling Clinic Deputy Director Science & Strategy

The Anne Rowling Clinic is a not-for-profit initiative with charitable status through the University of Edinburgh Development Trust. Every donation directly supports the Clinic’s mission to bring new hope to people facing neurological conditions.
