Dr Rioux studies inflammation in the blood vessels of the brain and how it causes disease. He uses genetic and molecular information from large databases to study the role of inflammation in the risk of stroke and dementia in the general population. In September 2022 Bastien joined the Centre for Clinical Brain Sciences as a clinical PhD research fellow, funded by a Dr Hugh S P Binnie Scholarship and Rowling Scholarship. His PhD was co-supervised by Professors William Whiteley and David Hunt.
Dr Rioux completed his PhD in Sept 2025 and moved to the Paris Brain Institute to undertake postdoctoral research.
