Dr Daniel Sandler is a Rowling Clinical Research Fellow. He supports the delivery of clinical trials, providing medical input during research visits and helping to ensure patients receive safe, high-quality care. Alongside this, he is pursuing research into advanced therapeutics, neuroinflammation, and computational neurology, including the use of machine learning to better understand and treat disorders of the brain and immune system. He also maintains an active interest in oncology through ongoing clinical work with the Edinburgh Cancer Centre.

Daniel studied Medicine at the University of Edinburgh, where he also achieved a first-class intercalated BMedSci (Hons) in Neuroscience, focusing on the pathological mechanisms of Col4A1 mutations in Small Vessel Disease. He completed foundation training in south-east Scotland, gaining broad experience across oncology, neurology, neurosurgery, and stroke medicine.
