About the project

Open Network for Frontotemporal Dementia Inflammation Research (ON-FIRE) is an observational study that is collecting blood samples and questionnaire data from people with frontotemporal dementia (FTD). The data will be used to  'fingerprint' different inflammatory blood profiles and to investigate the genetic and environmental factors that influence these patterns.

This is a multicentre study led by the University of Cambridge.

ON-FIRE aims to establish a national network for blood biomarker discovery in FTD from participants across the UK, ensuring representation from people whose condition affects them in different ways, and those from different ethnic and socioeconomic backgrounds.

ON-FIRE is also looking for ‘healthy participants’: people who do not have a neurological condition and would be happy to give blood and answer questionnaires and act as a control case.

For more information visit the study website at on-fire.org.uk.
