David and Helen combined celebrating fifty years of marriage with their friends and family, with fundraising in aid of the Anne Rowling Clinic.

Golden Wedding AnniversaryWhy did you decide to fundraise?
We chose the Anne Rowling Clinic for our fundraiser because Helen contracted transverse myelitis (TM), a rare neurological condition, in July 2019 and has received the best attention, help and support from the Anne Rowling Clinic in Edinburgh. More research needs to be done to find out the causes of TM and other neurological conditions, so we felt the money would be put to good use and help lead toward new treatments for these conditions.
How did you raise the money?
We used the opportunity of our Golden Wedding celebrations as a fundraiser. It was a good chance to get 80+ people contributing to a worthwhile cause. We had a great celebration with family and friends at Crieff Hydro Hotel and managed to raise a decent amount. Thanks to all our guests who contributed.

Use the opportunities of birthdays, anniversaries, and other significant life events to encourage friends and family to donate instead of giving you presents that you either don’t need or want.
